Julie Wake Prayers/ Funeral Mass

                  Mon, 27 January 2020

In the afternoon, Julie's body was brought back from GH mortuary and the undertakers' dress up Julie and did everything else for her. Then they transferred her to the funeral parlour of Immaculate Conception Church. When everything was settled they came back.

I just came back from my trip from Genting/Ipoh. Luckily Janice was at home then, to open lift door and wheeled me up. Mum was resting when I came back. When she heard my voice, she woke up to helped me.  There were lots of food and biscuits I brought home and Janice help keep everything in order. After having some light tea, mum helped me bath and I went to rest

Mum told me Julie's face was pretty and peaceful.

We adjourned to IC Church funeral parlour for Julie's wake prayers at night. Fr. Marshall was the first person sitting alone talking to Julie. He was waiting for our arrival. I was happy to see him
He sat awhile with me before others' came. There were few of Janice friends' who came before prayers too.

When I attend relatives' wake, I hardly wanted to go near the coffin to pay respect to them. But it was very different with Julie, I asked my niece to wheeled inside and help me to stand up to see her.

There I saw my daring sister lying so peacefully inside the white coffin with small angels' at all sides of the coffin and the room was beautifully decorated. I wanted to see her face and talked to her more, but other friends came in to pay their last respect.

Our church group members BEC 11 & 12, our relatives, cousins & friends slowly came in. There were food served to all of us.

BEC 11 and 12 church group stared the evening with songs, prayers, and rosary from our
After the prayers finished, everyone was served with a plate of Koay Teow and a bowl of sweet drink. We gathered, eat and talked. Everyone who came comfort me, but they don't understand my feelings on how missed someone so close to me

We were happy and pleased many people came to support us.

Mum and myself woke up quite early that morning. We prepared our ourselves and were ready. But Janice told us to leave the 10.20am, but when she brought us down to into the car park was over 10.30am. When driving to church, Janice received few calls from relative and friends saying the priest was waiting for us (family members) for prayers, before adjourn into the church. We rushed there, but traffic jam near the church, but manage to church as fast as possible

When we arrived at the church car park, an aunt and my cousin came to help us. They wheeled me and helped mum (lead her) to funeral parlour. I was so surprised everyone had arrive except the (we) family member. They wheeled me and mum followed together inside the funeral parlour where the prayers started in less than 5mins. Janice and family stood outside together with relatives and friends.

Our priest said 10mins prayer before we adjourn into the church. They took Julie's hearse to the front porch of church. All of us slowly walked behind hearse, while sang a few songs. We went into the we family members sat in front.

The mass was around 45mins. After finished, they wheeled the hearse to the front porch. All of us, one by one took turns to say goodbye to Julie. My brother in law helped me to stand up and say my last goodbye to Julie. After that, they closed up the coffin and all of us close relatives and friends adjourn to Batu Gatung. While I was at the front porch, I met my friend, Maureen Muthu from Sungai Petani. I was touched as she came out all the way just to attend Julie's funeral.

It took more than 20mins drive there. It was my first time to Batu Gantung Crematorium. I always heard of that place but never been there. There were 5 cars follow the hearse. When we reached the place, we thought there was only staircase. We found a ramp beside the crematorium. Few men who handle the hearse wheeled me up the ramp.

All of us stood in front of Julie's coffin, a lady communion minister said a prayer of blessing and we sang a few song before the coffin was drag into the fire. A few of us cried. I felt extremely sad inside me, but I wasn't able to cry out. Inside my heart, I was crying.

Before we disperse, we were served with cakes and plain bottle of drink. Janice thanked everyone for coming and supported us. She invited them to join us for lunch. Some went back, but my cousins' family and few of BEC 12 close friends' joined us

We adjourned to 747 Restaurant to have lunch. Janice had book 2 tables. When we arrived there were many cars outside. As it was the fourth day of Chinese New Year the restaurant were packed with people. All tables were full until we had difficulty finding place to sit. At last, there were 2 tables for us.  It was quite difficult for me to get in as the place was crowded. Luckily manage to slowly wheel me in.

We ate rice and a few dishes. Mum sat with her BEC group friends, together with my cousin and his family. Our table has less than 10 persons. While eating, I observed people from other tables' were enjoying their luncheon with their family and friends'.  A few tables not far from ours', the people were enjoying string their dish which was Yee Sang to bring them good luck and prosperity

We couldn't finish our food, so we took home our leftover. While mum's table finished all their food. We chatted among each other while eating and after luncheon. Around 2pm, all of us disperse and went our way.

Genting/Ipoh Trip

25-27 January 2020   -  Genting/Ipoh Trip

I was happy that this year my disabled friend Teik and my darling plan our Chinese New Year outstation trip on the first day of CNY. Mostly every year we travel on the second or third day

Why? Because I don't have to meet all my relatives and cousins as they come to visit my mum on the first day of CNY. This year, we have less visitors as we are mourning for Julie. Only our close relatives and cousins came to visit us.

Sat 25 Jan 2020

Teik, my disabled friend, her 2 daughters and my darling came to fetch me. We took only one car this time. After fetching me, we went to their center to fetch another 2 disabled friends before we started our journey. There are 7 of us in the car with 2 wheelchairs and our baggages'.

We stopped in Petronas Station, Green Lane to fill petrol and reload Touch & Go card. From there, we started our journey with smooth drive all alone the Penang brigde and on the highway without many cars.

It's a sunny morning. With trees on both of the highway and a smooth drive. A few of us fell asleep as we woke up quite early that morning. Halfway through, Teik stopped at the back of Petronas Station as few of them went down easy themselves.

From there, we continue our journey. We listen to music in the car, chit chat, I, myself continue writing my journal. It was at Tapah rest house when I ask to stop as to ease myself. My darling pushed me to find the disabled restroom. We parked our car quite far from the restroom, so we took a long walk to find the disabled toilet.

When we found it, I entered the disabled toilet, it wasn't DISABLED FRIENDLY. Even though the toilet was spacious and big but railing on the wall was very small and short. Due to my weak body, I was unable to hold bar and transfer myself over to the toilet bowl. Luckily, I took my bedpan along as easier to do my toileting. Thank God for helping me with my toileting. After done, we walked back to our car.

We continue our journey and reached Batang Kali and went to find a hotel. Due to CNY, most of the shops and coffee shops were closed, so the place were very quiet.

We found a Hotel Batang Kali 88, a budget hotel and book 2 rooms. We went inside and check out our rooms and leave our baggage inside. The rooms were very small and narrow, but luckily my wheelchair was able to move around. The hotel people were very friendly and greeted us Happy New Year and gave us 2 oranges.

After arranging everything at the hotel, we went for lunch at the nearest coffee shop (luckily it was open). As it was lunchtime, many people were inside eating, luckily we found ourselves a table. After our meal, we headed up to Genting. It took around 20mins drive up as there not many cars.

When driving up, we felt the cooling air and happy upon reaching Genting Highlands!  As we drove into the to parking area, thank God it wasn't hard for us to find a parking lot.

After parking our car, we headed to the 1st floor where all the game were there.  Teik bought games ticket for the 2 disabled friends and his daughters. While waiting for them, I saw the place were crowded with people many men, women, and children wear red T-shirts with mouse picture on it. The mouse symbolizes Year of the Rat.

If I was given a red T-shirt like that, I wouldn't want to wear. I don't like red color and I don't like cartoon pictures

After arranging everything for them, we left them with their games. After few hours, we arrange to meet back at the lobby.

Teik, my darling and myself went to Sky Casino on the same 1st floor. While entering the main door, a police guard opened the side door for us. When we entered the casino, I saw a very whole place was very big and spacious with a lot of people and there were type of games. The ceiling lights was yellow in color and it was very beautiful and elegant.

Teik saw an empty seat and started to play Roulette game. A while later, a man next to Teik got out from his seat. My darling tried his luck on the game. I watch them and tried to follow and understand the game but wasn't able too. It looks easy to play, but I couldn't get the idea how the game.

I felt bored sitting there without understanding, I wheeled myself around the place. Many people were playing same too. In front, there were a lady and man staff uniform announced the game to all the players.

After tried his luck, sadly my darling lost in the game and he stop playing. He pushed me around to see the other games people were playing. There were  card's and slots games too,  There were many other games on the other side, we didn't manage to see other games.

I needed to go to the restroom. We searched for the OKU toilet and thank goodness there is a disabled toilet inside the casino. The toilet was very big and clean. I was able to transfer myself over with the railing help. After doing my toileting, I heard there were people outside the toilet. When I came out, an elderly man on a wheelchair was waiting to go into toilet. He was talking to darling while waiting for me.

Teik also ended his game and earn some points. We went out from the casino together and Teik change went to his points for cash. There were a lot of people queuing up to collect their money after won their games.

We waited by the side of the counter. I was watching young to old people passing by, all type of religion, locals and overseas. The whole was decorations beautifully. It was nice and fun seeing the things in front of me. My darling came and wheeled to the lobby to find the other friends.

We rang them to let them know we were waiting at the lobby. Less than 10mins, they came down and meet us.

They told us they only played few games as there were too many were queueing for other games. Teik met us at the lobby and straight adjourned to the car park and went down to Batang Kali. There wasn't many then, we had smooth and easy drive down.

When arrived Batang Kali, we searched for coffee shop to have our dinner, but there none open. Then we went to Econsave Hypermarket Batang Kali to see there any food count,  but there were none too. It wasn't a big hypermarket, but there were many shops inside too. We shopped only around to buy some necessary food/items.

Because we couldn't find any eating shops, there were some  Malay stores by the roadside.(It was like night market). We decided to buy dinner at stores. It was cheap and many other people bought from them. We bought lots of food back to the hotel room to eat.

After dinner, my friends helped with bathing. The hotel room toilet/bathroom was incredibly difficult for all disabled but my friends managed to help in. As the toilet steps were more than 2 feet high.

I had travel with my friends too so many places, this bathroom/toilet is the most shocking I ever seen for now. Luckily we spent only a night there.

Sun  26 Jan 2020

We check out from Batang Kali Hotel and went to the nearest coffee shop for breakfast. There were a lot of people in that shop, but we managed to get a table. From there we adjourn to Ipoh. We had a smooth drive without too many cars on the highway. It took us 3 hours for us to reach Ipoh Toll

At noon, we reach Ipoh toll and went into Ipoh town. We search and manage to book Highway Times Inn Hotel and went in to check the rooms. The room was bigger than Hotel Batang Kail. There was a step into the bathroom/toilet. We tried my wheelchair to enter the toilet, luckily, they push in without difficulty.

After that, we left our baggage's there and went to the nearest coffee shop for lunch. The coffee shop was full with people until we have difficulty finding a table.

After lunch, because the weather was so hot, we didn't go anywhere. We were to visit other places, but we went ended up at AEON supermarket for shopping. That was the coolest place we went. Inside AEON, there were many outlets and restaurants and it was Sunday and also 2nd day of Chinese New Year. There were a lot people were enjoying lunch and shopping with their family.  I had a great time seeing so many branded outlets.

We went into the Hypermarket and bought lots of food and bring them back to the hotel to eat, rest and chit-chat. We enjoyed each others' company. I sat beside them and see them talking. It was great fun.

27 Jan 2020

In the morning my darling and myself went opposite to the Sun Sun Coffee Shop for breakfast. It was big eating place, full with of people. As there are no tables inside the shop, we decided just to sit outside. There are a few empty small tables. We didn’t know what to eat so we choose western food, which the stall was nearby to our table. The food was quite nice and cheap. Like usual, I couldn't finish the food. our two disabled friends’ were there for breakfast too, so we asked one of them to finish food as not to waste.

After breakfast, we checked out from the hotel and went to the regular shop to buy Salted Chicken.  The nearby parking place was always full with cars, but luckily there were few empty slots. We were able to park near the shop. I went down together as wanted to buy biscuits too. The Salted Chicken shop were always full with people. Every one of us bought the salted chicken and I also bought some biscuits.

After buying everything, we went to town area for some site seeing, but there were not anything much to see. So we went around to search for coffee shops to have lunch but most of shop were all full house. We drove slowly to find a coffee-shop and parking slot too. At last, we found a parking slot nearby a shop. The shop was full with people. Luckily, we found an empty table at the back of the shop.

After filling our stomach, we left Ipoh with a smooth drive back to Penang. It took us 2 hours drive, and everyone fell asleep in the car. We reached Penang Bridge very fast. After pass the bridge, I was the first they drop me home.

I was happy that we had a nice and enjoyable trip, even though we only went to a few places. But I was happy that we went Genting even only few hours there. Thank God for helping me throughout the journey and took care of all of us.

An Evening Walk At Strait Quay

Monday,  6 Jan 2020

It was a beautiful evening where Cherylene (my 21-year-old niece) took me out alone to Strait Quay. On Saturday night,  we had a short talk about going outing. I didn’t know where to go. So, she said, “I will take you, Strait Quay, to see the sunset”. (Strait Quay was Cheryl’s favorite place to hang out with her friends)

On Monday itself, I didn’t have a real mood to go out, but since we had already plan to go. I told her we would go.

That evening around 5.15pm, Cheryl came up to my place with a big bag which contains many things inside, including foodstuff etc.

She pushed me down to the car park and assisted me into the car. It took around 20mins drive as there was not much traffic and Cheryl drove slightly fast. I was happy that I got the chance to go for an evening outing

We reached at Strait Quay and searching for a parking space. At that same time, there was security guard cycled around the parking area. He led us to the nearest parking area/spare up to the ramp. Thanks to him, we found a spacious parking space very near to the ramp.

It was a very nice evening on that day. Cheryl pushed me out to the open-air jetty here there were many boats tied up. Cheryl pushed me along the jetty, where there were children, young, and old people of all races hanging out, exercising.

Not far from there, I saw the lighthouse. We didn't there, but Cheryl took to another place (her favorite place, where she and her friends hangout). It was more than 20mins walk. She wants me to experience the beautiful sunset. She pushed me all the way as it was connecting partway all along. All along the way, there a some people exercising (walking & jogging).

The purpose Cheryl took me there was to see the beautiful sunset. The ground was level and easy to push. While Cheryl pushed me, we talked and taking photos and video of the scenery there.

We stopped and rested on a big open field. Cheryl read her book and we ate some tit bites to fill our stomach. Some young people were hanging nearby around. There we were, sitting on the field watching the beautiful sunset. It was GOD creation!!! I felt so peaceful during that time, watching the wave of the ocean and sunset.

We took some photos and continue walking until we reached almost the end of the road, where there was a playground and a football field. The playground was empty with no children, but on the field, a group of young men playing football. While walking back, we saw a small fishermen village and their boats.

We had a long way to walk back, I took photos and videos along the way. I was really happy to see the sunset. We make our way back to the car park. The security guard on the bicycle was still there. He guarded us from parking area.

Even though it was only two hours outing, it was great of Cheryl to bring out see the sunset and for an evening walk

Thank God the good weather that evening and give me chance to go out.

12 Hours Adventure in Kuala Lumpur Airport

I wrote this story last year. It was what I've experienced personally. I didn't know whether to put here in my blog. But now I'm publishing it.

It was the last day of our Kejohanan Sirkit  2 Boccia , from 5-9 August 2019 held in Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Paralimpik, Kampung Pandan. KL

After my last BC4 game finished in which I lost 2-4 to my opponent, it was around 11.30 am. My assistant, my family and I had lunch in the cafeteria in Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Paralimpik. After lunch, we met a few friends to discuss our Boccia balls. It was interesting hearing their discussion.

My assistant, family and I went back to our Vortex KLCC Apartment to relax I was in my room clearing my stuff, when suddenly my assistant came into my room. She told me, that they would be going back to Penang for an urgent matter. They wanted to send me back to the dorm together with my other teammates and their assistants, who would care for me.

I quickly thought of what to do. I didn’t want to go back to the dorm because I didn’t want to stay another day. As the next morning, we had to go to Dewan Boccia again for the final game and medal presentation ceremony (which I dread to go) because the Boccia court was super/terribly hot and humid.

What came to my mind was taking a flight back to Penang. I called and told
Janice that

I wanted to go back by plane. She agreed to find the earliest flight back.  At the same time, our coach also allowed us to go back.

What I thought looked very easy and simple, turned out that God had another plan for me.  He wanted me to experience a longer journey.

Janice called me back and told me that there were a few Malaysian Airlines flights in Subang Airport. I told my assistant and her family I wanted to take a plane. I told my assistant maybe my niece could help me, but Janice told me she was busy.  My assistant helped me pack my bags and called a Grab car They were unable to drop me at the airport as he was taking another route back.

The Grab driver was a Malay driver. We told him to help me to Subang Airport. The driver took around one hour as there was a traffic jam in certain parts of the city as it was after working hours

When I reached the airport, the driver was kind enough to park his car at the parking lot and helped me with my 2 bags.

He wheeled me near to the Information Counter and asked someone to help me.

I told an Indian female staff member near the Information Counter that I wanted to buy a plane ticket to Penang. She wheeled me and my 2 bags on the trolley to another side which was Malindo Air counter.

The female staff left me with the Malindo Air staff. The baggage was left outside the counter. I approached and inform the staff that I wanted to buy a ticket to Penang. Seeing my condition, in a wheelchair, they refused to help me.

In Subang Airport, Malindo Air and Firefly cater only for able-bodied passengers, there was no accessibility for wheelchair users to go up the airport.Passengers have to walk up a flight of stairs to go into the plane.

I continued to ask the staff there to help me walk up the plane. Their answer was still and that is very risky.

One of the staff told me to go to KLIA Airport as there was a flight at 11.45 pm.

There I was, alone in Subang airport. I tried to think of what to do. I called Janice for help. She asked me to take a Grab and go back to and join my team. In my heart, I didn’t want to stay another day. So I took action and I did it my way.

While I was alone in the airport, I wasn’t afraid or panicked. I stayed very calm. At that moment was 5 something. I had to act fast. I went to the OKU restroom which was quite a distance away. I left my luggage at the Malindo Air counter.

I wheeled myself there and I asked God to help with my toileting, protect me from any danger or any falls. I did it with God’s help!!  I wheeled back to the counter and stayed near my bags.

I saw an Indian lady. She was wearing her name tag. I quickly approached her and asked her to help me push my trolley bag outside the arrival hall.
I wheeled beside her. She helped me outside the arrival hall. I thanked her for helping me. God really send an angel to help me.

I took a Grab car again and headed to KLIA Airport which was one hour’s journey. I asked the Grab driver to help me to get into the car.  When I was in the car, I prayed that God would send someone to help me when I reached KLIA.

At that very moment, Janice called me and asked about my situation. I told her that I was in Grab car and heading towards KLIA. She scolded me for not going back to join my team.

While in the car, I was thinking instead of making two trips to the airport, I could have done only one trip to the KLIA and take an earlier flight too.

At last, I reached KLIA and it was 8.15 pm. I saw 2 ladies standing and holding plaques in front of the arrival hall. I didn’t bother about them but I instead concentrated in getting out of the car.

After I got out of the car, the driver put my baggage on a trolley, he went off. The two ladies holding plaques approached me and asked if they could help me. I saw their name tags and I knew they were working there. They offered to wheel me, together with my bags.

When I asked them where were they from one of them told me they were Malaysian Airline (MAS) staff. I felt very relieved and pleased that I was with the right people. God really sent angels to help me!

I told them I wanted to book a flight ticket back to Penang. They were pleased to help me. The two staff wheeled and pushed my trolley of bags for quite a distance before we reached the ticket counter.

At the Malindo Air Counter, I asked them to help me find the earliest flight to Penang.

They said there was only one flight at 11.45 pm. There were no other flights for that night. There was a Malaysian Airline Counter by the side, but the fare was very expensive. They said if I wanted an Air Asia flight, I would have to go to terminal 2 (I had to take a Grab car there.)

There was an earlier flight if I wanted, but at Air Asia, there was no one to help if I went there. So I bought a flight ticket for 11.45 pm with Malindo Air. When I was at the counter, a male staff checked-in my 2 bags.

After checking-in my bags, the male staff asked me to have my dinner while waiting. I asked him, how to contact him if I needed help. He gave me his contact no. and asked to message him, when I needed his help. Thank God for sending another angel to help me.

KLIA was big and spacious. I slowly wheeled myself to a spot where I could rest and have dinner. Some shops were still open. Fast food restaurants were open, with people queuing to eat/buy dinner.

From far, I saw the KFC outlet. There was an OKU restroom when I passed by. I decided to go to the restroom first before heading to KFC.

I asked the Lord to help and protect me as I was alone in the toilet. I asked HIM to keep me safe from danger or a fall. I could feel HIS presence there with me. I felt relief after coming out of the toilet.

I wheeled myself towards KFC which was quite a distance away. I was quite tired when arrived there. It was after 9 pm but there were still a lot of people of all races lining up to order their food.

I queued up to order my food too. As I’m a small eater, I only ordered mashed potato, salad, and ice-cream. The KFC staff was kind enough to bring my food to my table.

I ate as well as observed the people who came in and out. Many people were having their dinner/supper too.

There were many locals and foreigners lining up to order their food and also eat there. It was very interesting to see people coming in and going out.

Around 10 pm I messaged the staff to come and push me as I was too tired to wheel myself back there. He messaged that he would come for me at 11 pm. I didn’t know

Janice had messaged me until she called me saying that my flight was delayed for 1 hour.

My goodness, that would be another one long hour waiting! Around 11 pm, the staff came to me together with another young staff. They wheeled a small wheelchair with them.

They wheeled me near the check-in place and transferred me over to the small wheelchair. This wheelchair is for disabled/elderly passengers when boarding the plane.

They helped me until the departure hall than they left.  I was really thankful to God for sending these angels to help me in my hour of needs.

Many people were waiting in the Departure Hall. It was nearly midnight and some people were half asleep. I was also very tired sitting in the small airplane wheelchair.

We had to wait another hour for our plane. Some passengers went to the front counter to enquire what had happened. They were told that the flight was delayed.

Nearing the time, air stewards and plane crew came in. Slowly the door opens, and I was the first to be wheeled into the plane. I sat in the front row. Other
passengers slowly came in. There were many passengers on that flight as in the next few days, there was a Public Holiday.

When the plane started moving, I thought to myself, “This was the first time, after nearly a decade, that I entered into an airplane.” I was happy that I was able to fly by myself.

We were each given a cup of plain water. When we were in mid-air, the pilot made an announcement. He told us some bad news. Penang airport was closed and our plane had to turn back to KL. It was already after one am. I heard them saying the Penang line way closed at 2 am

Everyone jumped up with questions but there were no answers. I panicked too as it was very late and I was very tired. I wanted to reach home as soon as possible.

At that time, I closed my eyes and said a short prayer “Lord please let the plane reach Penang as everyone is very tired.”  Within minutes, the pilot announced “Good news.  Penang railway will be opening for our plane to land”

Wow! My heartfelt so relieved and I thanked God for answering my prayers. God was good at answering prayers. It was a miracle!!!!! There were smiles on everyone’s faces.

When we reached Penang runway track and the stop, I felt happy and relieved that I was in Penang Airport at last!

Passengers slowly walked down the passager way. I was the last person to leave the plane. When I got down, the plane’s assistant wheeled me to collect my bags. The whole airport was so quiet and empty.

Janice was alone waiting for me at the Waiting Hall. When I saw her, I was really happy. She took me to the restroom, before going to the car.
It was around 3 am, when I got into my brother in-law’s car. They took me home.

I reached home at 3.30 am. I felt so relieved, happy and proud of myself that I could back from KL by myself with God’s help.

Thank you, Lord, for helping and guiding me back home safely.
