Holiday In KL-Genting 2020

Day 1 - 31 July

Around 8 am, my darling together with Teik and family came to fetch me then went for breakfast at Batu Lancang. The tables were all full up with people, but the boss of the shop opened up. After finishing a few tables for us, we went to fetch another two disabled friends from their center.

From there we headed to ĶL, but before the highway, we stop at the Shell station restroom as some of them went to ease themselves. We continue our journey from there. Inside the car, we listen to music while some of them fell asleep.

We had a smooth ride as there were not many cars on the highway. Teik didn't go very fast, just a regular speed.  On the way, we stopped at Tapah rest house as I needed to ease myself. The disabled toilet is not suitable for me to use as there was no railing to hold, so I had to use my bedpan. It took some time for me inside the toilet.

From there we continued our journey with an easy and smooth ride. We arrived in ĶL outskirts around noon. Teik used his GPS to find the way to Kl Plaza (where we are staying). It took him around half an hour to find and reach there. When we arrived outside ĶL Plaza. Teik dropped my darling and me outside the other office and they went to searched for a parking lot. We searched for their office on the 5th floor and found it. There was a lady staff inside, she took my particulars and gave us the key to our apartment. It was on the ninth floor.  After getting our keys, we called Teik and the rest to meet us on the ninth floor. It took some time for us to meet them as we couldn't find them. But at last, we met them.

We searched for our apartment and found it. When we went in, I was amazed it was so big with 3 rooms and 2 toilets. There was a big sitting room and kitchen too. We kept all our bags in our rooms.

It was evening then, and everyone was very hungry. We went down to search for food. On the ground floor, all around were shopping malls. We went out to search for food. There were a lot of people along the pathway, by the side were many restaurants and cafes.

Before I went, Janice told us there was an Indian nasi kandar restaurant which was cheaper, but we went all around the place searching for the shop, yet we couldn't find it. I called Janice for directions to the restaurant and found it. We went quite far before finding it. My darling and Teik packed our food and went back to the apartment to eat.

At night, after dinner we chit-chat. The fun time was Teik brought a very big bag of coins and we all counted. It was so fun together with all of them. During our chatting time, I told darling and Teik that I wanted to sit in the cable car. Darling asked Teik’s 2nd daughter to accompany me. Then we ended that topic.

All of us sleep early that night as everyone was tired of the journey.

 

Day 2 – 1 Aug

 All of us woke up very early that morning. After everyone got ready, we all cooked Maggie Mee for breakfast as there was some utensil in the kitchen.

Around 8.30 am, we headed off to Genting. Teik uses his GPS and follows the way up to Genting.  There were not many cars while we were on the highway and on the way up the road to Genting there are very few cars going up too.

While on the way up he stopped his car but I didn't know why. Then I realise he dropped us at Genting Skyway station. The rest of the group didn't want to follow us. I was really happy and thrilled that I got the chance that I got to sit in the cable car for the first time.

When Ei Ling pushed me inside the station, it was a big place. We took a lift up to the tickets counter. There were many others' too queued up for the tickets. Ei Ling knew the way up as and she the others went up before in our early trips. So it was quite easy and fast for her to buy the tickets for both of us.

 After buying the tickets, she pushed to the cable car station. There were many cable cars bringing people for rides. When some of the cable cars stop, I thought they had to transfer me to the seat, but I was surprised the person in charge pushed me inside the cable car. Inside the cable car was very spacious, so the wheelchair user was very easy to push in. When the door closed, the car moved very smoothly. While the car was moving I could see the view from the top.

It took 10-15 minutes for us to reach to top station, which was on the 7th floor. When it reach the top, my darling, Teik, and the others were waiting for us. When the door opened, my darling pushed me out. I had a nice feeling even though it was a short time up in the cable car.

From there, we took a walk around the place, and then we went to Marrybrown fast food restaurant on the 4th floor for a late break. From there we adjourned to the 2nd floor, where the Skypool Indoors Park was.

Teik queued up to buy tickets for his daughters and 2 other disabled friends to play the game.  There were lots of young people queuing up to go in there too. From there we adjourned outside the casino. There were lots of people queueing up to go into the casino. Teik went in together with those people.

 Since my darling and I saw so many go in, we decided not to go due to Covid 19.  What we did was walk around the place and see them playing. Even though I couldn't play all the trilling games, seeing those people play was very fun enough.

Around 3.30 pm, Teik meet us back at the same place where were. His daughters also meet us as they only played a few games. Other games were full of people. As we were feeling hungry, we went to the 4th-floor food court to fill our stomachs.

We came down from Genting around 5.30 pm, then we went to ĶL Jusco Supermarket to buy dinner back. It was very sad to see the whole supermarket shops were closed and the place were so empty due to MCO 1. There were only a few shops that were opened. We saw there were sushi packets so we bought some of them back to the apartment to eat. All of us had a good time. I felt enjoyed my day, at the same time felt very tired.

 

Day 3 – 2 Aug

On our last morning at the apartment, we cooked Maggi mee again as it was difficult to find breakfast outside. We packed our bags and check out from the apartment around 9 something. Darling pushed me to the 5th-floor office and returned the room keys. We checked out early that morning because we wanted to go to Ipoh Supermarket.

As my darling accompany Teik to drive his car to the KL Plaza entrance. We waited with all our bags for quite a long. During our waiting time, I was looking at the people who walked along the pathway. At last, Teik arrived at the entrance. Darling told us that they were checking his car.

We left ĶL town around 10.15 am. There were not many cars on the highway, we have a smooth drive. we arrived in Ipoh town at 1.15 pm, and straight to buy the famous Salty Chicken, biscuits and other stuff.

In that area, there were lots of coffee shops. Most of the time, we had difficulty finding a parking space. Luckily we found a parking lot.

As it was lunchtime and there were many people inside the coffee shop. Luckily we found a table and we ordered our food. After lunch, we went to Jusco Ipoh Supermarket. It was a big shopping mall with a lot of shops and restaurants. There were a lot of people shopping and having lunch.

We straight went into the supermarket and check out what wanted to buy. We bought quite a lot of things. From there, we headed back to Penang. 

It was evening when we arrived in Penang. Teik dropped me home first before dropping the rest. It was a fun and enjoyable weekend.

Genting/Ipoh Trip

25-27 January 2020   -  Genting/Ipoh Trip

I was happy that this year my disabled friend Teik and my darling plan our Chinese New Year outstation trip on the first day of CNY. Mostly every year we travel on the second or third day

Why? Because I don't have to meet all my relatives and cousins as they come to visit my mum on the first day of CNY. This year, we have less visitors as we are mourning for Julie. Only our close relatives and cousins came to visit us.

Sat 25 Jan 2020

Teik, my disabled friend, her 2 daughters and my darling came to fetch me. We took only one car this time. After fetching me, we went to their center to fetch another 2 disabled friends before we started our journey. There are 7 of us in the car with 2 wheelchairs and our baggages'.

We stopped in Petronas Station, Green Lane to fill petrol and reload Touch & Go card. From there, we started our journey with smooth drive all alone the Penang brigde and on the highway without many cars.

It's a sunny morning. With trees on both of the highway and a smooth drive. A few of us fell asleep as we woke up quite early that morning. Halfway through, Teik stopped at the back of Petronas Station as few of them went down easy themselves.

From there, we continue our journey. We listen to music in the car, chit chat, I, myself continue writing my journal. It was at Tapah rest house when I ask to stop as to ease myself. My darling pushed me to find the disabled restroom. We parked our car quite far from the restroom, so we took a long walk to find the disabled toilet.

When we found it, I entered the disabled toilet, it wasn't DISABLED FRIENDLY. Even though the toilet was spacious and big but railing on the wall was very small and short. Due to my weak body, I was unable to hold bar and transfer myself over to the toilet bowl. Luckily, I took my bedpan along as easier to do my toileting. Thank God for helping me with my toileting. After done, we walked back to our car.

We continue our journey and reached Batang Kali and went to find a hotel. Due to CNY, most of the shops and coffee shops were closed, so the place were very quiet.

We found a Hotel Batang Kali 88, a budget hotel and book 2 rooms. We went inside and check out our rooms and leave our baggage inside. The rooms were very small and narrow, but luckily my wheelchair was able to move around. The hotel people were very friendly and greeted us Happy New Year and gave us 2 oranges.

                                                            

After arranging everything at the hotel, we went for lunch at the nearest coffee shop (luckily it was open). As it was lunchtime, many people were inside eating, luckily we found ourselves a table. After our meal, we headed up to Genting. It took around 20mins drive up as there not many cars.

When driving up, we felt the cooling air and happy upon reaching Genting Highlands!  As we drove into the to parking area, thank God it wasn't hard for us to find a parking lot.

After parking our car, we headed to the 1st floor where all the game were there.  Teik bought games ticket for the 2 disabled friends and his daughters. While waiting for them, I saw the place were crowded with people many men, women, and children wear red T-shirts with mouse picture on it. The mouse symbolizes Year of the Rat.

If I was given a red T-shirt like that, I wouldn't want to wear. I don't like red color and I don't like cartoon pictures

After arranging everything for them, we left them with their games. After few hours, we arrange to meet back at the lobby.

Teik, my darling and myself went to Sky Casino on the same 1st floor. While entering the main door, a police guard opened the side door for us. When we entered the casino, I saw a very whole place was very big and spacious with a lot of people and there were type of games. The ceiling lights was yellow in color and it was very beautiful and elegant.

Teik saw an empty seat and started to play Roulette game. A while later, a man next to Teik got out from his seat. My darling tried his luck on the game. I watch them and tried to follow and understand the game but wasn't able too. It looks easy to play, but I couldn't get the idea how the game.

I felt bored sitting there without understanding, I wheeled myself around the place. Many people were playing same too. In front, there were a lady and man staff uniform announced the game to all the players. 

After tried his luck, sadly my darling lost in the game and he stop playing. He pushed me around to see the other games people were playing. There were  card's and slots games too,  There were many other games on the other side, we didn't manage to see other games.

I needed to go to the restroom. We searched for the OKU toilet and thank goodness there is a disabled toilet inside the casino.The toilet was very big and clean. I was able to transfer myself over with the railing help. After doing my toileting, I heard there were people outside the toilet. When I came out, an elderly man on a wheelchair was waiting to go into toilet. He was talking to darling while waiting for me. 

                                                     

   

Teik also ended his game and earn some points. We went out from the casino together and Teik change went to his points for cash. There were a lot of people queuing up to collect their money after won their games.

We waited by the side of the counter. I was watching young to old people passing by, all type of religion, locals and overseas. The whole was decorations beautifully. It was nice and fun seeing the things in front of me. My darling came and wheeled to the lobby to find the other friends.

We rang them to let them know we were waiting at the lobby. Less than 10mins, they came down and meet us.

They told us they only played few games as there were too many were queueing for other games. Teik met us at the lobby and straight adjourned to the car park and went down to Batang Kali. There wasn't many then, we had smooth and easy drive down.

When arrived Batang Kali, we searched for coffee shop to have our dinner, but there none open. Then we went to Econsave Hypermarket Batang Kali to see there any food count,  but there were none too. It wasn't a big hypermarket, but there were many shops inside too. We shopped only around to buy some necessary food/items.

Because we couldn't find any eating shops, there were some  Malay stores by the roadside.(It was like night market). We decided to buy dinner at stores. It was cheap and many other people bought from them. We bought lots of food back to the hotel room to eat.

After dinner, my friends helped with bathing. The hotel room toilet/bathroom was incredibly difficult for all disabled but my friends managed to help in. As the toilet steps were more than 2 feet high.

I had travel with my friends too so many places, this bathroom/toilet is the most shocking I ever seen for now. Luckily we spent only a night there. 

Sun  26 Jan 2020

We check out from Batang Kali Hotel and went to the nearest coffee shop for breakfast. There were a lot of people in that shop, but we managed to get a table. From there we adjourn to Ipoh. We had a smooth drive without too many cars on the highway. It took us 3 hours for us to reach Ipoh Toll

At noon, we reach Ipoh toll and went into Ipoh town. We search and manage to book Highway Times Inn Hotel and went in to check the rooms. The room was bigger than Hotel Batang Kail. There was a step into the bathroom/toilet. We tried my wheelchair to enter the toilet, luckily, they push in without difficulty.

After that, we left our baggage's there and went to the nearest coffee shop for lunch. The coffee shop was full with people until we have difficulty finding a table.

After lunch, because the weather was so hot, we didn't go anywhere. We were to visit other places, but we went ended up at AEON supermarket for shopping. That was the coolest place we went. Inside AEON, there were many outlets and restaurants and it was Sunday and also 2nd day of Chinese New Year. There were a lot people were enjoying lunch and shopping with their family.  I had a great time seeing so many branded outlets.

We went into the Hypermarket and bought lots of food and bring them back to the hotel to eat, rest and chit-chat. We enjoyed each others' company. I sat beside them and see them talking. It was great fun.

27 Jan 2020 

In the morning my darling and myself went opposite to the Sun Sun Coffee Shop for breakfast. It was big eating place, full with of people. As there are no tables inside the shop, we decided just to sit outside. There are a few empty small tables. We didn’t know what to eat so we choose western food, which the stall was nearby to our table. The food was quite nice and cheap. Like usual, I couldn't finish the food. our two disabled friends’ were there for breakfast too, so we asked one of them to finish food as not to waste.

After breakfast, we checked out from the hotel and went to the regular shop to buy Salted Chicken.  The nearby parking place was always full with cars, but luckily there were few empty slots. We were able to park near the shop. I went down together as wanted to buy biscuits too. The Salted Chicken shop were always full with people. Every one of us bought the salted chicken and I also bought some biscuits.

After buying everything, we went to town area for some site seeing, but there were not anything much to see. So we went around to search for coffee shops to have lunch but most of shop were all full house. We drove slowly to find a coffee-shop and parking slot too. At last, we found a parking slot nearby a shop. The shop was full with people. Luckily, we found an empty table at the back of the shop.

After filling our stomach, we left Ipoh with a smooth drive back to Penang. It took us 2 hours drive, and everyone fell asleep in the car. We reached Penang Bridge very fast. After pass the bridge, I was the first they drop me home.

I was happy that we had a nice and enjoyable trip, even though we only went to a few places. But I was happy that we went Genting even only few hours there. Thank God for helping me throughout the journey and took care of all of us.


                                    

                             

                                                   

A great time in KL/Genting

Recently, my darling, myself and friends went to Kuala Lumpur/Genting Highlands for 3 day and 2 nights. We started our journey around 9 something on 10 June. We had a smooth ride as there were not many cars on the highway. We stopped at the rest house once. There was a disabled toilet, but when I went I was shocked to see the toilet had no railings or bars to hold. I tried my best to do my toileting. I said to myself "what a lousy disabled toilet?" We continue our journey and arrived in KL town around 2pm. Because KL highway has many routes. We lost our way few times as we turned into few wrong roads  It's took us more than an hour to reach our hotel.

Everyone of us were relief when we reached our destination. We checked in hotel around 3.30pm. Later we went for lunch opposite Jusco hyperrmarket. It's around 5mins drive away from our hotel. After lunch, we went groceries shopping. We bought a lot of food stuff back to the hotel and walked around to see there were so many shops and stores in the mall. There were a lot of people specially Muslim doing last minute shopping for their Malay New Year. 

We headed back to the hotel to bath and rest. The whole evening we stayed in the hotel, ate what we bought in the room.Everyone was chit-chatting and had a great time together. For me, as a quiet person, I listen to them talking and had fun.

Day 2

Genting Highlands, here we come!!! My favourite place!! I have not been there for nearly 2 years. I missed this place so much!  It was very nice and cooling place to stay in. There are many entertain outlets for young and old. 

We all got ready and headed for Genting around 11 something. It was a smooth ride all the way up.

We reached and checked into a free complimentary room which few of my friends and myself are members' of Genting World Resort. As one of my friend's is a disabled, the counter staff gave us a disabled room.

Wow!!! the disabled room was very big and spaces with sofa, couch and a big disabled toilet equip with bars and railings. The bathing side has a sitting place for disabled. After settled down in the room, all of us went out to checked out the place. Some of us went different place. Few friends and myself went to see the places and almost got lost. As Genting renovated the place for last few years into a bigger and beautiful place.  The place changed a lot, we went round and round to see the new place.  

My friends wanted to checked our members card, but was really hard to find the counter. They had changed places, but at last we found it. There were many people queing up at the counter either to apply new membership cards of change new card. My friend's and myself change our membership  card.

We were there only few hours as a friend of ours' had to dropped few of us back KL hotel. We started our journey around 4.30pm and reached KL town half hour later. It was really unbelievable as we were stuck in a terrible traffic jam in KL town for around 4 hours. We reached the hotel about 9.30pm. We were all relief upon reaching as we were very hungry and our bodies ached.

Upon reaching the hotel lift, we were shocked the lift was spoiled. We couldn't do anything, so we went over to the Indian coffee shop next door to the hotel and had our dinner. Then, we went to Jusco to buy few things. Luckily, my friend took us there. I urgently needed to find a toilet, luckily there was a disabled toilet. Thank God for that!!! I was so glad to relief myself.

After bought our things, we went back to the hotel. We faced a big problem when we went back to the hotel. No one came to repaired the lift!!! My goodness, they had to carry up to the 2nd floor!!! Two of the hotel workers and my darling carried me. I was so terrible scared while they carried me. My heart nearly fell off and I couldn't breath as the fright was there. At last thank God we reached 2nd floor. 

My friends who was supposed to go back to Genting was unable to back there as it was too late to drive back. They slept in the hotel.

Everyone was very tired, got ready and went to bed very fast

Day 3

We woke up early and got ready checked out from the hotel. We checked out from KL hotel and headed up to Genting around 9.30am. Some of them brought breakfast up to Genting to eat in the hotel room. Without much traffic, we took one and half hour to reach Genting. It was quite fast.

We straight went to our room, some had breakfast and showered themselves. Most of us enjoyed each other company talking and laughing.

After all got ready, we checked out from the room. We went round the see the places. Some of them went to played some game. I enjoyed myself very much as when we went around and see the nice places with loud music and a lot of people. There were many entertainment places for children, youngsters and adults.

The time has come for us to go back. We took off around 4.30pm, drove slowly on the highway. Thank God there were not much traffic jam all the way. Some of us fell asleep in the car. We stopped in Ipoh town (Perak) for dinner in a coffee shop. In that area, there were many eating places with a lot of people. There were several shops, stalls selling a lot of things.

It was night then, we slowly drove as there were many cars on the highway. We reached Penang 11pm over and dropped few of my friends before dropped me. I reached home home nearly 12am.

All of us had a enjoyable time. I had a great time with my friends. Though there were few difficult times, we all took it cool and calm.
