Broken Hearted

 Friday, 21 August 2020

Boccia has been my favorite sport/game since 2000 when I started playing. I was happy to participate in all tournaments.

On 12 August, my Boccia coach gave me the news that Malaysia Sukan Negara (MSN) they have limited the age to 45 years of age for all athletes. My heart completely broke down and tears drop down on my cheek. It was the saddest news as I'm over age and I'm not able to play in any competition anymore.

That few days before my coach inform me, I ordered a set of Boccia ball from Denmark (which is very expensive). I have wanted to buy the ball since last year but wasn't successful.

I yearn so to buy "my own set of the ball". When I ordered the ball, I felt so happy. I thought I can play in the coming competition, but never did I know that I would never get the chance to play anymore.

When my coach heard I have ordered Boccia ball, he helped me to find a buyer. Within a week, he found a buyer for me, he is also a Boccia player from Sarawak. I feel so thankful to God that He helped me to find a buyer in a short time.

Though I was broken hearted, as I cannot play Boccia anymore. I'm not able to do anything but accept it..All Paralimpiad games will be my memory for a long time.

Boccia Training

Thursday. 26 March 2020

Activities in 2019

Ever since I stopped playing Boccia in 2015, due to my sickness, I have never stopped my interest in playing the game. Instead, I kept telling my close disabled friends and teachers, I miss the game so much.

I never knew God gave me another chance to play again in 2019 after I recover from my sickness in 2018.

Beginning of 2019, I asked our new coach, Can I come for training and participate in the competition again. He said can and asked me to find a helper to help me pick up balls during training sessions twice a week. Our boccia training held at the Spastic Centre hall.

My coach in return agreed to help me find a personal helper during our outstation competition.

Before I started my training, I searched/asked around relatives and friends who would be able to help assist me to pick up my balls. I kept searching and prayed that someone would be able to help me. Thanks to God, my friend told me her niece was willing to help for a few months while waiting to enter into college

Our training was twice a week, Wednesday (afternoon) and Saturday (morning). When I started for my training, I was happy and pleased to meet Jia Wen (the girl who help me) at the Spastic Center.  I was also happy to meet my Boccia friends again after so many years. There were many new young players' I met during our training session. I started knowing and befriend them.
Jia Wen was a kind-hearted and friendly person. She helped with me every session of my training.

She also befriended with my friends' during our training. She helped me until March 19' when she had to enter college in Kuala Lumpur. Before she left, she introduced me to her cousin Run Yin who was willing to continue helping me. I was happy that there was still someone to help me. Run Yin helped me for two months before she entered college in Penang.

I was very thankful to God for these two girls' who helped at the starting of my Boccia training. From then I was without a helper, but I asked anyone in the Boccia team to help me pick up the balls. I was thankful they helped me.

Great disappointment

This year our Paralimpid Malaysia was held in Pahang from 9 - 14 December. My friends' and I from our Boccia team trained every Saturday and for the children, they trained during school days. I went for training mostly every week and there were a few teachers' came to help us picked the balls.

One afternoon in the mid of November, Joe, my coach called me and told me I have been pulled out from the competition as BC4, my catagory have only two players. They don't allow two players, but must have three.

Upon hearing the news, I was truly dishearten and was really sad as I was looking forward the tournement. I practice so hard, I even brought the balls' back home to practice at my apartment lobby. I kept praying for some miracle that they could find another BC4, but miracle didn't happen.

I had to slowly accept the fact that I would not be joining my Boccia team to Pahang. When God decide something we have to accept it even though with a heavy heart. We cannot fight against God, but accept His will.

Paralimpiad in Melacca -2010

My 3rd medal since 2006

Penang Team

Only 3rd place -bronze medal

Medal giving

Me and another opponent (and friend) Arasu from Perak

Me and my opponent from Selangor

This year Paralimpiad Malaysia was held in Melaka from 19-26 November 2010.
Our Penang Boccia Team consists of five members. It took 8 hours drive by van to reach Melaka. All the wheelchairs' athetic stayed in University Teknologi Malaysia (Bandaraya Melaka). The rest of atletic who can walk stayed in the same University but in another place one and half hour drive from the University we stay.

The University we stayed in was apartment style with three rooms. We stayed on the 4th floor. My mum and I together with another friend and her maid took the master room with toilet/bathroom inside our room. It was really comfortable place compare to the previous University we stayed in 2 years ago.

Our game started from 22-24 November, There were five states competing -Selangor, Wilayah Persekutuan, Johor, Perak and Penang. On the fews day of our tournement we had to wake up at 4am as we had to take turns to bath and toileting. It takes time for us to get ready. Breakfast was at 5.45am. We had to wait for the Rapid Bus by 7am. Because we had to reach the Stadium by 8am, there were two police man escorting our two buses to the Stadium. We reached there around half and hour, if not it would take us a longer time to reach the Stadium due to the traffic jam.

It was very hectic on the first two days of our tournement as there were many groups competing among each other. My game was only on the first day as I only challenge with Perak and Selangor. On the third day was the final game and the presentation was in the afternoon. I felt slightly disappointed as I only got bronze this year. I tried my best to play well, but it wasn't good enough. I had my spasm (muscle pull) on my competition day that's why I couldn't play well. Overall, Selangor was the the winner.

I played my best, but what I got was the last place. I will never give up playing Boccia. I will my best try to get into international. That's what I'm looking forward to play with other contries. God please give me this chance.

A great disappointment

There was the 1st National Boccia Championship held on 8th-10th in KL this month. Since beginning of this year I had been looking forward for to go for this tournament, but to my disappointment I couldn’t go. It was because of my sickness which lasted for more than a month made me wasn’t able to attend my training for the whole of April. So I asked my coach to canceled my name.

I kept thinking why I felt sick at this time where I couldn’t go for my training. I really missed my training and the tournament. I had the loved for Boccia ever since I started playing in early 2000.

I hope I will get to train and play in the coming Paralimpiad in November. My dream is that I hope be chosen for international game one day.

Boccia training

I’m happy that Boccia training is back. I got the chance to go for practice after a year of rest. I’m really excited that this year there are many tournaments. It will be an interesting year for sports people.

Our training is held in the Spastic Centre twice a week – Tuesday and Thursday afternoon 3.30pm-5.30pm. This week we have three days of practice as our coach is free to train us.

I follow a friend of mine in wheelchair who is staying in Cheshire Home to our centre. Since Cheshire Home is quite near my house, my dad dropped me in the home and I follow their van and my dad will pick me back from the Spastic Centre.

I’m happy whenever there is Boccia training as I like going for tournaments.

A great disappointment

Early this morning I received a really disappointed news (sms) from my Boccia teacher. Our trip to Singapore for Boccia game has been canceled. My heart felt apart after getting the news. I have been training twice a week for the past 1 and 1/2 months together with another friend who won a gold medal for the catagory BC3 in the paralimpic. Both of us are supposed to represent Penang for Singapore Boccia Game. We are suppose to join Kuala Lumpur and Johor team to go to Singapore.
I was really looking forward for this trip but I know it would be very difficult for me to travel. Because all of us will be travelling by train and I have never travel by train before.

Playing Boccia is my interest and it is a great opportunity to enter into the international but I lost this chance again. This is the 2nd time I was choosen to play, but due to lack of helpers, I didn't get the chance to enter. The last Boccia International game was held in Kuala Lumpur in 2006.

Anyhow, if I have the chance I also can't go as last minute because my mum suddenly have very high blood pressure. She is supposed to be my helper in Singapore, due to her sickness she can't go. My maid also is not allowed to follow me as she need to do the house work.

This is God's will and I have to accept it. He knows what is best for me and I can't go against Him.

Paralimpid Sport 3-9 May 2008

From 2nd - 7th May, 6 disabled friends and I together with our helpers and few teachers from Spastic Centre went down to Kuala Lumpur in 2 van for Paralimpid sports for 5 days.
The game I'm playing is called Boccia (indoor lawn ball). This game is specially for Cerebal Palsy who are on wheelchairs and can control their hands and their brain are alert.

Before I went for this sport I prayed to get a gold and I trained very hard for it. I played with 2 opponents from Perak and Johor which is BC4 (my catogary). I played my best and beat my 2 opponents and won a gold.
Those 5 days was very intersting but very tiring as all have to wake up at 4am to queue up to the toilet. I'm much happier this time as we have our own room so there were no disturbance of others. All the athletes stayed at University Putra Malaysia (UPM). We have to get on 6am bus to Studium Juara. The journey from UPM to our stadium took around 1/2 hour.
Our game started at 9am. We arrived earlier to warm up ourselves and get used with the court.

Overall Selangor won the most gold for single and team game. I'm happy upon winning a gold medal. I will try my best to play better in future.

God, What Are You Doing In My Life?

Tuesday, 2 May 2022 I'm lying on my bed now thinking of my life. What is God doing in my life? I really cannot understand. I keep thin...
